Sheila's Zip Line Adventure

Throughout our long history of supporting Bristol’s Oncology Centre, we have seen our supporters raise funds in some very unique and interesting ways. This fundraising campaign was certainly one of the most adventurous fundraising campaigns that we’ve seen to date.

Sheila Bamford showed bravery throughout her cancer treatment and more recently, showed bravery by taking on Zip World’s famous Velocity zip wire to raise funds for the Friends.

The Velocity zip line is currently the fastest zip line in the world. It travels over Penrhyn Quarry at speeds of over 100mph offering breathtaking views along the way. What a truly unique and exhilarating experience!

Sheila’s husband Frank said, “The BHOC was instrumental in us all enjoying her adventures and her continued love and inspiration… Our grandsons Eddie and Rex would not have grown up knowing what a fantastic Granny they had if it had not been for the hard work and dedication of all the HOC staff.”

A big thank you and congratulations to Sheila for your support and we trust that Sheila stays healthy and is able to enjoy many more exciting experiences like this in future.

This year we have committed to spend £175,000 on equipment for the Centre as well as £25,000 for patient support £10,000 for research and £15,000 for new chairs for the chemotherapy day room.

We depend on our supporters for our income and all donated funds are spent on our charitable objectives. Any money raised is always appreciated.

If you would like to fundraise for the Friends but you’re not sure where to start. Please get in contact with us and our team will point you in the right direction.
