Increasing Comfort for Patients

A large portion of the donations we receive help fund new equipment and resources for the Centre to aid treatment and increase comfort for patients and their families. Our most recent purchase has included blood gas analysers, fans, water bottles and chairs - find out more about the new equipment below.

Hanover Oncology Chair

Hanover Oncology Chair

One electrically reclining Hanover Oncology Chair for patients to use during PICC placement. The chair replaces the current one which is worn out.

The new chair features an adjustable headrest, fold back upholstered armrests, optional lumbar support and optional shaped upholstery for ultimate comfort. Staff will also benefit from the easy to clean features and clinical access to assist canulation and other procedures.

Toronto Treatment Chairs

Toronto Treatment Chairs

Ten electrically reclining Toronto Treatment chairs will now replace some of the worn out chairs in the Chemo Day Unit helping to increase comfort and ease of use.

The chair is designed to allow easy access for wheelchair users and is a high comfort solution for patients resting and recovering for a wide range of hospital procedures.

Reusable Water Bottles

Fundraising has enabled us to purchase a batch of Friends of BHOC reusable water bottles for the Radiotherapy Department to lend to patients during their treatment.

Cancer treatment often comes with dehydration as a side effect so the bottles will be given to patients during their treatment sessions in the department help keep them hydrated throughout their radiotherapy.

Dyson Fans and Blood Gas Analysers

Dyson Fans & Blood Gas Analysers

We’ve also purchased twenty Dyson Fans for Patient Areas which will help keep patients and visitors cool and four Blood Gas Analysers to improve patient testing and treatment.

The chairs, fans, bottles and analysers are all now in use at the Centre and are helping to improve the quality of patient treatment.
